What to expect from a SHIPS Self-Help Course?

Designed and delivered by SHIPS founder Dr Sarah Ashton, these courses share the same knowledge and strategies she uses with her clients. Self-led reflection and learning offer an accessible and affordable way to take the first steps toward healing, clarity, and change, with no referral needed.

Each course includes:

  • Pre-recorded videos and written evidence-based education
  • Reflective questions and exercises
  • Downloadable practical tools and resources
  • Life time access

What these courses CAN'T  do: While SHIPS Self-Help Courses are a supportive resource, they are not a substitute for therapy and cannot provide individualised clinical support.

We want your thoughts! Tell us what you'd like to learn about.

We're committed to creating an accessible space for people who can't go to therapy. Tell us what tools you'd like to see on SHIPS Self-Help.

Meet Your Presenter

Dr Sarah Ashton (she/her) is a sexual health psychologist, educator, and the founder of SHIPS and ISHPA. With a deep commitment to accessible, trauma-informed care, Sarah created the SHIPS Self-Help Courses to bring the insights and tools shared in therapy rooms to a broader audience. Her aim is to make psychological support more available to everyone.

Through these courses, Sarah shares the core ideas she brings to every therapy session: tools for healing, self-reflection, and guidance to reconnect with your inner strength and wisdom. Sarah believes every person deserves the opportunity to heal they just need to be provided with the right space and opportunities.

Sarah’s clinical practice is values-led . She is a passionate advocate of LGBTIQA+ communities, sex workers, neurodivergent individuals, and people practicing kink and non-monogamy. Sarah’s passionate about naming the impact of marginalisation, stigma, and discrimination, not as individual problems, but as systemic issues that shape people’s lives.

With over 17 years of clinical experience, she integrates principles of research, lived experience  and therapeutic approaches such as Internal Family Systems, EMDR, Schema Therapy.
